Remembering Nana

On May 31, 2008, my Nana passed away. She was 96 years old, and a real fire cracker! I just spent a week at home with my parents, and at the end of the week, we had a little party in Nana's honour. I think it was exactly as she would have wanted it. A group of friends gathered at George Hennig Place (her assisted living home) where a few people spoke, her arts and crafts were displayed, a slide show was running, and food was served. Later that evening, some of her closest friends came back to my parents home for a cook out in the back yard, and, of course, a card game. We received some reflections from our family members, and you can read them here.

Dad's eulogy gives a pretty complete account of Nana's life. At the party, my dad also read out a prayer that we think Nana would have liked. It was a nice send off for my Nana. There was a lot of love in that room, and it seems like everyone will miss her dearly.
